Instructor Absences From Classes
The Faculty Code of Rights states that if you are prevented from meeting classes, a faculty member must make satisfactory advance arrangements and communicate, preferably in writing, these arrangements to the chairperson.
All instructors in the department have an obligation to their students to meet classes as scheduled. However, there are times when circumstances, such as other duties or illness, make it necessary for an instructor to miss scheduled classes.
The instructor should make advanced arrangments for another instructor to teach the class. At the beginning of the semester, you were asked to submit an online Substitute Instructor form. The link was emailed to you by Lori. It is the instructor's responsibility to contact the substitute should the instructor be unable to meet a scheduled class.
In addition, you need to report to the department chair your absence by completing this Instructor Absences from Classes form.
