Building Emerging STEM Scholars of Tomorrow (BESST) Mentorship Program Student Application
The priority deadline for the 2024-2025 BESST Mentorship Program is May 26th. Students who apply by then will hear back by June 10th. We will have a rolling deadline until all spots are filled.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must have at least 18-24 months remaining at KU before graduation
Must have A federal work study award as part of your financial aid
Must be interested in STEM research and career development
BESST students are Junior and Senior KU undergraduate students interested in taking part in research through the Federal Work-Study Program. You must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study funds as part of your KU financial aid package. You do NOT need to have any experience doing research to be a BESST Scholar. The researcher you work with will teach you any necessary skills to complete your work. You just need to be ready to learn. Students accepted BESST Program will receive a list of research project descriptions and will select your top five positions. As you respond to the questions below, please write a paragraph (at least 3-4 complete sentences) in response to each question. Each written response is important, so we recommend that you think about the questions a bit, write your responses in a Word document or similar application, revise them, and then copy and paste them into the application.
