This form is to submit a petition for approval of 2 semesters of high school speech for the exemption from Goal 2.2 Oral Communication. Students must have an A or B in both semesters order to qualify for this exemption. 

Please note: debate and forensics courses will not be considered for students entering in Fall 2020 or after.

Required information: 

• Name, Email, KUID Number, and an explanation outlining what you learned during your two semesters of high school speech.  

Please ensure that your official transcript has been submitted to the university. The department will pull it down for review. 

The petitions will be reviewed on a monthly basis by the Department of Communication Studies Undergraduate Committee. For further questions, please contact sgrachek@ku.edu.
